Patrón Releases Ahumado Smoky Tequilas

As the tequila category continues to boom, the latest innovation from Patrón is the new releases Ahumado Silver and Reposado, two smoky tequilas.

Both are made with 100% Weber Blue Agave.

To achieve the smoky flavor, agave piñas are roasted in small batches with mesquite charcoal for seven days in underground stone pits at Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico. Then the piñas are crushed with a 100% tahona wheel distillation process, as is tradition.

Patrón Ahumado Silver, 80 proof, has a lingering smoky taste, the company reports, with natural sweetness, balanced by notes of spices, black pepper and cooked agave.

Patrón Ahumado Reposado, 82 proof, is sweet, smoky and woody, with notes of black pepper and hints of vanilla and caramel, according to the company.

These tequilas will reach shelves in select markets during the next couple months. The suggested retail price is $69.99 for Patrón Ahumado Silver and $79.99 for Patrón Ahumado Reposado.
