Edwards 1902 lands on London brunch menu

English vodka producer Edwards 1902 has collaborated with London restaurant 20 Berkeley on a set of special brunch cocktails.

Available every Saturday from 11.30am to 3.30pm, alongside the Mayfair venue’s food menu, the brunch cocktails are designed to celebrate and showcase British ingredients, while also supporting local suppliers.

Co-founder of Edwards 1902, Emma Hamilton, said: “We are delighted to partner with 20 Berkeley for their newly launched brunch.

“Both brands honour the same values when it comes to celebrating premium British produce, so we’re delighted to showcase our range of English vodkas and liqueurs through their signature brunch menu – created by the Nipperkin bar mastermind Angelos Bafas.”

Owned by Elsham Wold Distillery, Edwards 1902 vodka is made from locally grown King Edward potatoes, from farms in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. The restaurant describes it as a “true British ‘soil to spirit’ vodka”.

Bafas has created four Edwards-based cocktails for the brunch: British Mart, Rhubarb Spritz, Plum Sour and the Apple Bellini.

The British Mart – a savoury serve – is made with Edwards potato vodka and also contains Ardbeg 10 Year Old whisky, Cambridgeshire koji, mushroom caramel, tomato mix and British spice. The brand describes the Rhubarb Spritz as ‘fizzy’ and ‘fruity’, bearing a combination of Edwards rhubarb vodka, English fortified wine, gooseberry aperitif and wild rhubarb soda.

For the Plum Sour, this has been crafted with Edwards potato vodka, plum wine, British dry amaretto, plum kernel, sour agent and toasted almonds. Its profile is ‘plumy’ and ‘velvety’. Meanwhile, the Apple Bellini has a lower alcohol content and is made with Edwards elderflower liqueur, Somerset apple cider, fresh-pressed apples and elderflower verjuice.

And there’s something for those abstaining too –  Bafas has added The Nectar, a booze-less serve comprising fermented English tea, blossom nectar and a non-alcoholic aperitif.

The cocktails are priced between £15 and £20 (US$19-$25) and a live DJ will also be on hand to soundtrack the proceedings.

To mark the arrival of the festive season, Elsham Wold Distillery released a Mulled Sloe Liqueur earlier this month – made with hand-picked sloe berries and Edwards 1902 vodka.
