Darnley’s creates gin pouches

Scotland-based distillery Darnley’s has unveiled recyclable gin pouches as part of its 2022 sustainability strategy.

The 700ml pouches are available for the brand’s Original, Spiced and Navy Strength iterations.

William Wemyss, founder of Darnley’s Gin, said: “Our sustainability plans for the brand are one of constant improvement and the launch of our gin pouches is part of this journey.

“We hope Darnley’s Gin fans will not only enjoy these gins, but also return the pouches so the full environmental benefits of this initiative can be realised.”

The new products are aimed at current consumers of the gin brand. The pouches are designed to be decanted into existing Darnley’s gin bottles, and then posted free-of-charge back to Darnley’s headquarters for recycling. They weigh 50% less than glass bottles, which are highly energy intensive to produce and transport, according to the brand.

The Original Gin pouch retails for RRP £28 (US$38.44), the Spiced Gin pouch for RRP £30 (US$41.19), and the Navy Strength Gin pouch for RRP £33 (US$45.31). All are available through www.darnleysgin.com.
