Cakebread Cellars New Vintages

This June, Cakebread Cellars introduces the second vintage of its Napa Valley Cabernet Franc 2019, as well as its Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, in its 2021 edition.

Like the 2018 vintage, the Napa Valley Cabernet Franc 2019 pairs well with charcuterie or steak with garden vegetables. Aromas include violets, boysenberry and blackberry accented with the suggestion of dried herbs, the company reports. On the palate, flavors of dark cherry and fresh boysenberry are supported by bright acidity and firm tannins. Boysenberry notes and a hint of minerality carry over the finish. A small selection of grapes from Sonoma County vineyards to create aromas of pink grapefruit, ripe melon, sweet citrus and notes of hay. The suggested retail price is $65 per 750-ml. bottle.

Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2021 matches with mixed greens, goat cheese and grilled shrimp. It uses grapes grown specifically to bring forward balanced acidity with bright citrus characters and tropical notes, the company says. These grapes from Napa Valley are paired with a small selection of grapes from Sonoma County vineyards to create aromas of pink grapefruit, ripe melon, sweet citrus and notes of hay. The suggested retail price is $30 per 750-ml. bottle.

Cakebread Cellars will also release Mullan Road Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2018. This red has aromas of muddled red fruits, raspberry and dried strawberry with hints of light baking spices, the company says. Swirling brings up notes of crème brûlée with black tea, mocha and cocoa powder. The palate contains black currants and plum puree accented by vanilla bean and balanced by tannins. Hints of dark chocolate and pressed berries linger on the finish. The suggested retail price is $45 per 750-ml. bottle. The post Cakebread Cellars New Vintages first appeared on Beverage Dynamics.
