Heaven’s Door Introduces The Exploration Series

Heaven’s Door Spirits, co-founded by Bob Dylan, has announced The Exploration Series, a new collection of limited-edition whiskeys.

Heaven’s Door will unveil two unique expressions under The Exploration Series banner annually. These are meant to explore the flavor spectrum of whiskey through new blends, secondary finishes and different staves.

The collection’s debut release is a blend of Heaven’s Door’s Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It’s finished in Calvados Brandy casks before introducing an additional layer of complexity through medium-heavy toasted French oak staves.

Calvados, an apple brandy from Normandy, France, matures for at least two years in French oak casks. This imparts characteristics like fresh apple cider and baked apple brandy to the bourbon, the distillery reports.

“Our new medium-heavy toasted French oak staves bring forth balanced complexity and enhanced aroma, culminating in a dark color and a smoother, creamier mouthfeel, providing a truly enriched flavor experience,” says Master Distiller Alex Moore. “The heavy toast enhances baking notes associated with apples, including brown sugar, pastry, caramel and biscuits.”

The inaugural expression of The Exploration Series aged for at least 5 years and comes bottled at 108 proof. It’s available for a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-ml. bottle at heavensdoor.com and retailers across the country.

Tis follows the recent release of Heaven’s Door Spirits Bootleg Series Volume V Bourbon whiskey.
