The latest in Wild Turkey’s Master’s Keep series, Triumph, is the oldest age stated rye whiskey ever released by the famed Kentucky distillery.
Wild Turkey is adding to its highly collectible Master’s Keep series with Triumph, a 10-year-old rye whiskey. The release honours rye whiskey’s evolution from forgotten style to its resurgent popularity, and was inspired by associate blender Bruce Russell’s affinity for it.
“This particular release was inspired by Bruce’s fondness for rye and is a nod to his influence on my work. Triumph is a rye you’ll be proud to serve neat and is a testament to the tenacity of the spirit,” master distiller Eddie Russell, Bruce’s dad, said.
Master’s Keep Triumph is bottled at 52% ABV and priced at US$275. A limited quantity will be available for fans in select US markets via online presale in early June, while the whiskey will be in-store at select retailers ahead of Father’s Day (16 June).
Triumph is the eighth release in the Master’s Keep series and the second rye, following Cornerstone, a blend of nine and 11-year-old whiskeys, released in 2019. Russell launched the series in 2015 as a way to showcase his unique approach to whiskey making.
“The Master’s Keep series continues to be a display of our creativity and quality at Wild Turkey. We’ve always seen the collection as a vehicle to tell stories that celebrate our heritage and who we are as a distillery,” Russell said.
Triumph’s extended ageing process supplies a sweet honey and warm spiced profile. It shows notes of clove, dark chocolate, dates, and spice, with a mocha and black pepper finish. The whiskey’s name refers to the contemporary revival of rye whiskey, and to Wild Turkey’s reverence for the spirit. In addition to the limited Master’s Keep releases, Wild Turkey produces fan favourites like 101 Rye and Rare Breed Rye.
