Vinexpo Paris moves 2021 date to June

The 2021 Vinexpo Paris trade fair has been postponed from February until June due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled to take place from 15 to 17 February 2021 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, Vinexpo Paris will now be held from 14 to 16 June 2021 due to the ‘evolving health situation’ of the pandemic. It will take place alongside Wine Paris.

It is hoped the later date will enable exhibitors and attendees to ‘maximise engagement with major industry players’.

Show organiser Vinexposium has also postponed the New York, Hong Kong and Bordeaux editions of the show until 2022.

Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of Vinexposium, said: “After discussions with all of our partners, we have reviewed our 2021 events calendar to reflect the ongoing situation and to provide the most appropriate response to industry needs.

“The new dates for Wine Paris and Vinexpo Paris in June 2021 reflect our desire to guarantee a successful event. Customer satisfaction is our priority which is why we are introducing exceptional conditions to support our customers’ business.”

Vinexpo Paris said preparations for the 2021 event were ‘well under way’, designed to help the drinks trade ‘bounce back’ following the impact of the pandemic.

Next year’s event will see the return of Be Spirits, a ‘show within the show’, which will be solely dedicated to the spirits and bar industries. Be Spirits was the first dedicated spirits area for Vinexpo.

Last month, Vinexpo Shanghai went digital, held from 21 to 23 October. Vinexposium said the show ‘resonated extremely well’ with the international community, with trade professionals joining from Asia, particularly China, Europe and the US.

Christophe Navarre, chairman of the Vinexposium board, added: “The current climate requires a new approach for Vinexposium, leading to an acceleration of digitalisation in order to maintain a close relationship with wine and spirits professionals around the world at all times. The new digital platform Vinexposium.Connect thus serves as an off-stage venue for the group’s international bricks-and-mortar events.”

The inaugural Vinexpo Paris took place in February 2020 and was celebrated as a “refreshing change” to other trade fairs.

Last week, Vinexpo New York cancelled its 2021 fair, which was due to be held in February.
