St-Rémy debuts Port cask-finished brandy

French brand St-Rémy has released a limited edition brandy that was finished in Port casks.

A total of 13,360 individually numbered bottles are being rolled out. The brandy matured in a mix of casks that previously held Tawny Port, a fortified Portuguese wine.

The bottling joins the St-Rémy Cask Finish Collection, a series that celebrates the brand’s master blender, Cécile Roudaut, and her expertise in maturing brandy in various types of casks.

Roudaut commented: “Throughout this process the aim has been to innovate and offer brandy-drinkers something new, whilst remaining faithful to St-Rémy’s traditions and heritage, using techniques that honour the methods used when the house was founded in 1886.”

The liquid is said to be smooth and subtle, with notes of black fruits, prunes and roasted nuts, ending in a dry finish.

It will be distributed in Canada, Taiwan and Mexico, starting from October 2022.

The new brandy follows the launch of the Sauternes Cask Finish and the second batch of the Dark Rum expression in 2021.

The brand revealed its new global strategy to boost consumption of St-Rémy XO and its latest release, St-Rémy Café, in June 2022.

Plus, it rolled out its Signature brandy bottling to global markets, including the UK and Taiwan, in August.
