Soplica Gorzka liqueur returns

Polish vodka brand Soplica has brought back its bittersweet Gorzka liqueur after a 20-year absence, and also released a new flavour.

The flavour will be the same as the original, featuring a balance of sweet and bitter notes, and 100% natural ingredients.

Natural macerates used in Gorzka include cloves, unripe orange, orange peels, and herbs from Bialowieża, including nettle leaf, goldenrod and woodruff.

Soplica said the liqueur’s return is down to numerous requests and suggestions from consumers, the brand said.

The brand has also created a new flavour variant to launch alongside the original: Soplica Gorzka with Mint. The expression blends Gorzka’s bitter notes with peppermint for freshness.

Gorzka, which can be used in mixed drinks or enjoyed as an apéritif, is bottled at 32% ABV and will retail for around PLN 31.99 (US$8.30) for a 500ml bottle or PLN 17.99 (US$4.70) for 200ml.

Soplica was the eighth biggest-selling vodka in the world in 2023. The brand, which is owned by Maspex Group, has more than 133 years of history and claims to be ‘an unquestionable leader’ in the Polish market.

The brand, which was founded in 1891, is famous for its wide range of liqueurs, with options including cherry, raspberry, and lemon and honey.
