London-based Proofworks has been accepted to join The Bonded Warehousekeepers Association (BWA) as an associate member.
The distillery solutions company joins producers, warehouses, technology providers and supply chain members who share a commitment to advancing best practices in excise and customs.
Proofworks’ goal is to digitalise the spirits industry. The company believes being recognised by the BWA provides its team with a channel to contribute to important key government initiatives relating to customs and excise warehouse facilities, for which the BWA actively participates through task forces and working groups.
The BWA is instrumental in the Joint Alcohol and Tobacco Consultation Group (JATCG) and the Joint Alcohol Anti-Fraud Group (JAAF) task forces, is actively engaged with HMRC and formulates and implements UK and European legislation.
Rob Hollands, CEO of Proofworks, said: “Joining the BWA holds great significance for us. Not only does it form part of our long-term plan to support the spirits sector with the fundamental building blocks for a more transparent, digital future, but it also opens doors for collaboration with other businesses with similar ambitions and commitment to better governance.
“We look forward to collaborating with other BWA members to discuss the big topics on everyone’s agenda as we put strategies in place that move our industry forward.”
With a like-minded purpose of introducing better communication and transparency in the spirits sector and implementing common frameworks and best practice initiatives that solve real-world challenges in customs and excise, Proofworks’ membership is a crucial part of the company’s long-term strategy.
Clive Brady, chairman of the BWA, commented: “It’s great to have Proofworks onboard as an associate member of the BWA and look forward to their contribution as we continue to drive and support compliance in the customs and excise arena. We believe Proofworks’ expertise in future technologies and their knowledge of the spirits sector will be invaluable as we develop and grow.”
Earlier this year, Proofworks appointed two strategic partners, Duncan McFadzean and Jane Grier, to its board.
