The latest release from Diageo’s Orphan Barrel line is Indigo’s Hour Straight Bourbon Whiskey Aged 18 Years.
This whiskey was distilled in Indiana, aged in Kentucky and bottled in Tennessee.
“Indigo’s Hour is perfect for those who appreciate the complex flavors and craft behind American-bourbon making,” says Diageo master blender Andrew Mackay. “Its liquid and bottle label symbolizes how the Orphan Barrel collection continues to evolve from its predecessors, making it a true collectible for those who appreciate fine spirits and rare whiskies.”
The mash bill is 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malt.
Aromas of creamy vanilla give way to a palate of toasted oak, baking spices and red fruit, the company reports. Hints of caramel, honey, vanilla and spice lead into a finish with a touch of oak.
The bottle design is meant to pay homage to the spirit’s origin story, drawing inspiration from the crops, flora and fauna native to the heartlands of America’s whiskey regions. This includes the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly of Indiana home.
Available at retailers nationwide, the suggested retail price of this limited, one-time release is $225 per 750-ml. bottle. Indigo’s Hour is also available on ReserveBar, where shipping and delivery options are available.
This follows the release of Orphan Barrel Castle’s Curse 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
