The whiskey is the result of finishing fully mature Woodford Reserve Double Oaked for an additional year in a second, heavily toasted, lightly charred, new oak barrel. Double Double Oaked is 90.4 proof with a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 375-ml. bottle.
On the nose is a medley of maple syrup, dark butterscotch, brittle caramel, bittersweet chocolate, burnt marshmallow and sweet hickory smoke notes, the company says. The palate contains dried cherry and cranberry fruit, with blackberry jam brightened by hints of ripe apple, leading into spicy chai tea and clove notes. The finish includes a lingering clove character. The post Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon Returns first appeared on Beverage Dynamics.
