Westward unveils redesign and new whiskey

American single malt whiskey brand Westward has revamped its packaging and added a new permanent expression to its range – Westward American Single Malt Pinot Noir Cask.

The new release joins the brand’s original single malt and Westward American Single Malt Stout Cask expressions.

Westward American Single Malt Pinot Noir Cask was created in partnership with select Willamette Valley producers, including Bergstrom Wines and Suzor Wines to name just two.

To create the new release, original Westward single malt whiskey was matured in two-char, kiln-dried new American oak barrels, before being finished for up to two years in ex-Pinot Noir French oak wine casks.

Bottled at 45% ABV, the Pinot Noir cask-finished whiskey is priced at RRP US$89.99.

Thomas Mooney, CEO and co-founder, said: “At Westward, there are no shortcuts, and therein lies the beauty. We pursue perfection by raising a world-class whiskey through our long, slow process.

“Today, we celebrate the culmination of a project we have worked on for the last two years. Our new custom bottle and design expresses the uncompromising spirit of the American Northwest and they represent Westward’s meticulous devotion to our process, culture, climate and ingredients.

“We’re thrilled to introduce a new, elevated visual identity that further highlights the beauty of our award-winning whiskeys.”

The updated design was created with award-winning design agency Pearlfisher. As part of the redesign, Westward has also overhauled its website, westwardwhiskey.com. As well as being able to ship in the brand’s home state of Oregon, Westward Whiskey will be now available to ship across the US through the company website.

Furthermore, the new bottle will head to the UK in the first quarter of 2021.
