West Cork IPA Cask Finished Irish Whiskey

West Cork Distillers, in partnership with its U.S. importer M.S. Walker, has introduced their new limited release IPA Cask Finished Irish Whiskey.

West Cork IPA Cask Finished is a 75:25 blend of Irish wheat and malted Irish barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills and aged in first-fill bourbon casks for four years. The malt and grain components are then blended and aged for an additional six months in casks that previously held Irish craft brewer Blacks of Kinsale’s IPA beer.

This whiskey has aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and a lingering sweetness, the company says, with flavors of caramel, toffee, citrus peel and malt, plus sweet vanilla and malt undertones on the finish.

This limited-release whiskey (9,400 bottles) is rolling out nationally for a suggested retail price of $32.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

West Cork IPA Cask Finished joins West Cork’s expanding line of craft whiskeys, which includes Bourbon Cask, Black Reserve, 8-Year Single Malt Irish Whiskeys and a variety of limited release offerings.

West Cork Distillers is 100% Irish-owned and uses only local Irish ingredients, the company says. It was founded in 2003 by childhood friends John O’Connell, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy.
