Premium rum brand Two Shores has launched into the UK market to pay homage to the ‘rich culture of Ireland’.
The golden rum has been created using a ‘unique’ ageing process that takes place both in Central America and on the west coast of Ireland.
After having spent eight years ageing in a humid on-the-equator location, the rum was moved across the Atlantic Ocean into a combination of hand-selected casks for the remaining six months.
The range is composed of four expressions, including finishes in 19-year-old single malt Irish whiskey, oloroso Sherry, rich peated whisky, and Amarone wine casks.
This combination of geographies and cask varieties creates a range of rums that are ‘unlike any other on the market’.
Two Shores founder Jason Kidd said he had a vision to create a rum that would “stand out” from the rest and showcase the best of what Central America and Ireland have to offer.
He commented: “We are thrilled to be launching Two Shores Rum in the UK. I have always been drawn to the rich culture and history of Ireland and I wanted to create a rum that would pay homage.
“We believe that Two Shores Rum is a true representation of the marriage of Central American sugarcane and Irish whiskey ageing. The result is a delightfully smooth yet complex liquid that is perfect for sipping neat.”
Two Shores Rum is aimed at consumers that enjoy higher-end whisky and Bourbons, and are seeking ‘something different yet familiar’.
The rum is recommended enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail.
The Two Shores range is expected to bring new consumers and liquid expressions to the Irish rum category.
Two Shores Rum is now available from Master of Malt for RRP £50 (US$60).
Goslings Rum recently added a new permanent expression to its portfolio that was ocean-aged onboard a cargo ship.
