Rum Nation refreshes Panama 18 Year Old rum

Independent bottler Rum Nation has relaunched its 18-year-old Panama rum, which joins its portfolio of aged spirits from Guatemala, Jamaica and Barbados.

Matured for 18 years, the rum was made following a Spanish-style distillation process, which produced a light-bodied rum with a “great aromatic complexity”.

The extended maturation period gave the rum a deep amber colour, and aromas of cola, bergamot, dates, orange peel and vermouth.

The palate is described as “sweet and fruity, but agile, with a lightness of mouthfeel that is quite refreshing”. Drinkers will find flavours of sugarcane molasses, chocolate, raisins, and a “great balance between orange peel, cola and coconut”.

The finish has notes of black tea, honey, chamomile and a warmth that is “not too peppery”.

Bottled at 40% ABV, the rum is packaged in a colourful decanter encased in a vibrant blue box.

The Panama 18 Year Old rum is the latest release from Rum Nation to originate in Panama and joins the company’s 10- and 21-year-old Panamanian rums, as well as an 18-year-old solera bottling.
