Ron Colón Salvadoreño rum names US distributor

Rum brand Ron Colón Salvadoreño has appointed California-based Preiss Imports as its US distributor.

Launched in January 2020 by industry experts Pepijn Janssens and Thurman Wise, Ron Colón Salvadoreño rum is made from a blend of rums from El Salvador and Jamaica sourced from Worthy Park Estate, Hampden and Monymusk distilleries.

The range includes Ron Colón Salvadoreño High Proof Aged Rum and Ron Colón Salvadoreño Cold Coffee Infused Rum. Both expressions are bottled at 55.5% ABV. The coffee used to make the rum is produced by speciality coffee maker Jags Head Coffee.

Preiss Imports will take on importation, distribution and wholesale responsibilities for the rum brand in the US.

Katy Wallace, US brand director for Ron Colón, said: “Our vision with Ron Colón was to create the perfect blend of flavours, inspiring us and our fellow bartenders to create new rituals and cocktails centred around an entirely new take on rum.

“Launched earlier this year, we are delighted to be partnering with Preiss Imports in the US who have the specialist knowledge and distribution network to support our growth.”

Wise, Janssens and bartender Felicity Gransden, co-owner of Ron Colón, worked together on Pernod Ricard’s Our Vodka brand.

Gransden said Ron Colón is now available in more than 22 countries.

She added: “The excitement around the brand, in both the on- and off-premise around the world, has reinforced our belief in the quality of Ron Colón and its place in the super-premium rum category.”

The rums will be rolled out in more than 30 US states, while retailers Flaviar and Caskers will sell the rum online. Ron Colón Salvadoreño High Proof Aged Rum is priced at US$41.99 while the coffee-infused rum is priced at US$43.99.

A 40.5% ABV version of the coffee-infused rum will also launch in the US on 1 November 2020, priced at US$43.99.
