GCA stresses importance of glass in packaging

Glass manufacturer GCA has attended a series of events this month to discuss issues around glass and sustainable packaging.

The events saw the company take an active role in addressing issues such as innovations in the glass industry, sustainability and climate change.

From 7-8 December, GCA was at the ASD Packaging Congress to give a presentation called ‘Glass, the Packaging Material of the Future: Circularity, Sustainability and Digitalisation’, which was about emphasising the importance of glass in the packaging sector.

As an ASD board member, GCA general manager Dr Abdullah Gayret moderated the panel in the congress.

Gayret then did the same at the DPU Career Days Interview a week later on 14 December, hosted by Dumlupınar University in Turkey.

Today (18 December), he is participating in ÇEVKO İDS Climate Change and Sustainability Meetings, and will detail a range of information from career opportunities in the glass industry to current developments in climate change and sustainability.

Gayret said: “The events we will attend in December are very valuable for both GCA and the entire glass packaging industry. On these platforms, we will have the opportunity to share the place of glass in the concepts of sustainability and circularity and why it is so critical as the packaging material of the future.

“In addition to sharing our knowledge and experience in the sector with a wide audience, the events, where we will also talk about innovations for the sector, are also of great importance in terms of following sectoral developments and innovations.

“Within GCA, we always attach importance to taking an active role in such prestigious events to emphasise that glass is not only a packaging material, but also the key to a sustainable future and to spread this awareness.”

In October, The Spirits Business spoke to Gayret about what it takes to operate a successful glass manufacturing business.

GCA describes itself as ‘one of the pioneers of the glass packaging industry in Türkiye’ and has more than 30 years of expertise and experience in table glassware production. The company also recently attended the 28th Eurasia Packaging Fair in Tüyap, Istanbul, to highlight advantages companies have in attending trade shows.
