Edinburgh Gin unveils literary-inspired gift sets

Ian Macleod Distillers-owned Edinburgh Gin has released five cocktail gift packs, with one kit concealing a first edition novel worth up to £3,000 (US$3,889).

Released ahead of Christmas, the limited edition Edinburgh Gin Storybook gift packs have been themed around famous books with a play on their names.

The five sets comprise: Journey to the Centre of the Serve, Olive or Twist, Paradise Found, The Winter’s Cocktail, and A Tale of Two Flavours.

Each Art Deco-themed gift pack contains products from Edinburgh Gin’s range including the London Dry bottling, flavoured expressions and liqueurs. They also come with accessories to make cocktails.

One of the sets will offer an original, first edition book at random. The recipient of the gift pack will be able to redeem a first edition of their choice, including George Orwell’s 1984 and The Savoy Cocktail Book by Harry Craddock.

Neil Mowat, UK marketing director of Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “Inspired by our hometown of Edinburgh’s influence on writers the world over, our ‘first edition’ Edinburgh Gin Storybooks would look at home on any bookshelf, nestled among the classics.

“Which is why, to celebrate their limited release, we secretly added one more extraordinary title to our range. Our golden ticket winner will get the special opportunity to choose an original, first edition book to savour over our range of award-winning gins.”

Edinburgh Gin’s Storybooks are available to buy in the UK from John Lewis, Selfridges, and other specialist retailers, as well as online at Edinburgh Gin. Each set is priced between RRP £35-£65 (US$45-US$84). From 2 November, the Storybooks can be purchased from Amazon and Moonpig.

In addition, Edinburgh Gin is also offering a personalisation service, allowing consumers to swap the ‘EG’ on bottles of its Classic London Dry to letters of their choice. The service is priced at £36 (US$46).

Edinburgh Gin has also released a festive bottling, called Christmas Gin. The 43% ABV expression has aromatic notes of frankincense and myrrh. It is priced at RRP £35 per 700ml bottle.

In June this year, Edinburgh Gin teamed up with Penguin Books to create a limited edition gift pack.
