Diversity Distilled debuts education programme

Non-profit consultancy firm Diversity Distilled has launched the Black Owned Spirits Symposium (Boss) Accelerator Programme to boost brands’ resources.

Diversity Distilled was founded by Samara B Davis and The Black Bourbon Society in 2020, and aims to focus on people of colour in the industry, increasing their educational opportunities in the spirits sector.

It also looks to advise spirits brands on creating robust diversity and inclusion policies.

Boss will connect brands with resources to help them succeed in a ‘competitive’ marketplace.

“I’m quite proud to be part of this exciting project,” said Aaron Kendeall, chief programme officer for Diversity Distilled.

“It feels like the perfect time to launch something like this. As more women and people of colour enter the beverage industry, it is empowering to pair these professionals with the vital resources to help them succeed.”

The initiative has received sponsorships from Brown-Forman-owned Jack Daniel’s and United Distributors.

Boss will offer a curriculum, providing brands with the opportunity to ‘graduate’ in the incubator programme and then present their brand at the Bourbon Boule, a virtual conference in US state Kentucky from 31 August to 4 September this year.
