Diageo and The Vita Coco Company, known for their lineup of functional beverages, have announced their collaboration on a line of canned cocktails that blend Captain Morgan rum with Vita Coco coconut water.
“Cocktail drinkers are looking for convenient ways to enjoy high quality classic tropical drinks, especially rum-based ones,” says Debra Crew, president, Diageo North America. “As we continue expanding our ready-to-drink portfolio, we consider ways to elevate the category, and it just made sense to marry together two premium brands that are loved by consumers around the world.”
Called Vita Coco Spiked with Captain Morgan, this new spirits-based line launches in three offerings:
Piña Colada — Flavors of pineapple, coconut and dark rum notesStrawberry Daiquiri — Flavors of strawberries, lime and fruity rum notesLime Mojito — Flavors of muddled garden mint, lime, and a touch of simple syrup
“Consumers in tropical regions have been enjoying coconut water as a great-tasting, high-quality mixer in their cocktails for generations,” says Mike Kirban, executive chairman and cofounder, The Vita Coco Company. “Now that coconut water is becoming a household staple across the United States, we wanted to make creating a delicious cocktail a few steps easier. We’re so excited to partner with Diageo to offer some great, ready-to-drink options featuring the best of both worlds: Vita Coco and Captain Morgan.”
Vita Coco Spiked with Captain Morgan cocktails are 5% ABV. Sold in 12-oz. cans, the suggested retail price is $14.99 per 4-pack.
The line is expected to hit shelves nationally in early 2023. All cans of Vita Coco Spiked with Captain Morgan will feature symbols clarifying that they are meant for LDA consumers.
