Writer Felipe Schrieberg and The Whisky Exchange drinks ambassador Billy Abbott will host an online whisky tasting to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.
The tasting will take place on 28 March at 7pm GMT. Schrieberg and Abbott will host the tasting online via Schrieberg’s Facebook and YouTube pages for his online whisky tastings: The Virtual Whisky Masterclass.
Packs of six whiskies will be sent to attendees’ homes via whisky subscription service The Dram Team.
Each pack will comprise: Compass Box Spice Tree, Glenturret 12 Years Old; Jura Seven Wood; The Lakes Distillery The One Sherry Limited Edition; Glen Scotia Victoriana, and Royal Brackla 18 Years Old Palo Cortado Finish.
Schrieberg, the 2020 winner of The Alan Lodge Young International Drinks Writer of the Year competition, currently resides in Gdansk, Poland.
He said: “Over half of the refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine are arriving here in Poland.
“The response from Poles all over the country has been truly moving, and everyone coming here from Ukraine needs all the help they can get.
“We’re very excited to be able to share some very tasty whiskies to support an excellent organisation doing amazing work here.”
Tickets are priced at £45 (US$59) per person (excluding booking fee), which includes the tasting pack of six whiskies.
An optional ‘viewing only’ ticket is also available to purchase for £15 (US$20).
All proceeds from the tasting will go towards supporting Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian war in Ukraine.
Spirits importer Emporia is also raising funds to help Ukraine. The company has donated 40 cases of Ukrainian vodka Staritsky Levitsky Private Cellar to raise £20,000 (US$26,235) for the British Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
