Avallen Calvados secures £250,000 funding

Calvados brand Avallen has surpassed its £250,000 (US$316,000) fundraising target to support the next phase of the company’s growth.

Healthy Hospo founder Tim Etherington-Judge and wine and spirits specialist Stephanie Jordan launched Calvados brand Avallen in April last year.

The duo launched the crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs in July 2020. To date, the campaign has raised £255,065 (US$328,700) from 337 investors.

Etherington-Judge said: “It’s a massive boost to have these investors join us at Avallen. It’s a great honour to welcome them on board our journey to become the world’s most planet positive spirit brand.

“We have so many plans and ambitions for the future – this financial boost will help us realise these much earlier and push the business to the next level.”

The money raised will be used to drive sales and gain new listings, as well as boost digital marketing.

Avallen will also improve its environmental performance across its production process by conducting an analysis of its lifecycle carbon, water use and biodiversity.

“Planet positivity is at the heart of all we do and it’s absolutely critical to us to trail blaze in this area,” said Jordan. “The funding will allow us to promote Avallen further and wider, but critically we can audit our production practices and ensure they are the very best they can be.”

Avallen is distributed in the UK through spirits importer Mangrove.
