Jeptha Creed Bourbon honours US veterans

Kentucky’s Jeptha Creed Distillery is releasing the third batch of its Red, White, & Blue Bourbon ahead of Veterans Day on 11 November.

Red, White, & Blue Kentucky Straight Bourbon was developed to show appreciation to current and past military members. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to non-profit organisation Creativets.

Jeptha Creed opened in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on Veterans Day 2016, and the third batch of its Red, White, & Blue Bourbon will be available from 7 November.

The whiskey is bottled at 50% ABV and comes from a mashbill of 5% Bloody Butcher corn, 25% heirloom white corn, 25% Bruce’s blue corn (created by Bruce Nethery, the husband and father of brand owners Joyce and Autumn Nethery, and bred from blue Claridge and blue poppy corn), 20% malted rye, and 5% malted barley.

On the nose, the whiskey shows aromas of dark cherry, orange peel, and vanilla. The palate brings notes of crisp apple and cinnamon.

Creativets uses different art forms, including songwriting, visual arts, music and creative writing to help disabled veterans cope with service-related trauma by fostering self-expression.

“We are deeply grateful to Jeptha Creed for standing by our nation’s heroes and amplifying our mission in such a meaningful way,” said Creativets deputy director Kyle Yepson. “Whether it’s art, music, or community building, these funds will provide veterans with the skills needed to share their experiences in new ways. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of veterans across the country.”

To celebrate the release, Jeptha Creed will host a Veterans Day tribute with a colour guard ceremony, guest speakers, bottle signing, and light appetizers on 7 November.

Batch 3 of Red, White, & Blue Bourbon is priced at US$75 and will be available at the distillery gift shop and in retailers across 40 states.
