Distillery 291 move will double capacity

Colorado-based Distillery 291 will move to a new production facility in February next year, which will more than double its current capacity.

Distillery 291, which has been based at its current Ivywild facility for more than nine years, will move to the new 12,000-square-foot space in Colorado Springs in February 2021.

The move will allow the brand to increase its production from six whiskey barrels per week to more than 12, and provide more storage space for maturing whiskey barrels.

The new site has space for further expansion, with plans for an additional 12,000 sq ft extension already under way. This will help Distillery 291achieve its goal of filling 45 whiskey barrels per week in the coming years.

Michael Myers, Distillery 291 CEO and founding distiller, said: “Over the next 12 months, we hope to add enough distillation, fermentation, operations and storage capacity to more than double our current production.

“I’m grateful for the memories at Tejon Street. It’s where we’ve grown as a company over the last nine years. But I’m really excited to take this next step in order to serve the growing demand for 291 Colorado Whiskey within the state and our expanded distribution across the country.”

Once the new site is operational, Distillery 291 will continue to produce its whiskey from grain to bottle in Colorado Springs.

The site will offer small group tastings by reservation and in accordance with Colorado regulations. Distillery tours will also be offered as soon as it is safe to do so.

The larger site will also house the new 291 Tasting Room, which will offer the full line of Distillery 291 products as well as cocktails to-go.
