Spiced rum brand Captain Morgan has expanded its range with the launch of an apple-flavoured expression in the US.
The new Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum is a blend of the brand’s signature Original Spiced Rum, a subtle hint of ginger and fresh cut apples. The apples are said to be “sweet, yet tart” and full of flavour.
The expression is said to “shake up the rum category” and is recommended served neat, as a chilled shot or over ice. It can also be added to cocktails like an Apple Mule, which combines the rum with ginger beer.
“Captain Morgan has always been about uniting the crew and creating lasting memories,” said Sam Salameh, vice-president of Diageo-owned Captain Morgan.
“These days, we all could benefit from a little more fun in our lives – there’s always more fun to be had with Captain Morgan, and the crisp, fall-inspired flavour of Captain Morgan Sliced Apple is the latest proof of just that.”
Bottled at 35% ABV, Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spiced Rum is priced at US$15.99 per 750ml bottle. It is on shelves now in the US and Canada.
The product is not the first apple-flavoured variant from Captain Morgan. In August 2018, the brand expanded its shot-inspired range with the launch of Apple Smash.
The new apple flavour is the latest innovation from Captain Morgan this year, following the launch of Orange Vanilla Twist and the 25% ABV Captain Morgan Tiki.
