Burleighs Gin secures £100,000 funding

English brand Burleighs has surpassed its £100,000 (US$130,000) fundraising target to support the development of new products including an alcohol-free ‘gin’.

Leicester-based gin producer Burleighs opened its crowdfunding campaign on 28 August with the aim of raising £100,000 to support plans to diversify its portfolio with a non-alcoholic ‘gin’ and ready-to-drink products.

Since the crowdfunding campaign launched, Burleighs has raised £114,717 (US$149,000) from more than 120 investors.

Commercial director Sam Watson said: “Despite the impact of Covid, 2020 has been a year of great progression for Burleighs Gin. The success of our crowdfunding campaign with Seedrs will now allow us to further drive our growth and progress with a number of exciting projects.”

The campaign is set to run on corwdfunding platform Seedrs for a further three weeks and the business is calling for additional investors.

Burleighs’ latest fundraising drive follows a crowdfunding scheme last year, which saw the distiller almost double its crowdfunding target to raise just under £500,000 (US$644,850) worth of investment in one month. The funds were used to accelerate its global plans, expand the company’s staff numbers and establish the brand in the US and Asia.
