Spanish drinks group Beveland Distillers has added Indonesian brand Marama Origins to its growing rum portfolio.
Made using Indonesian sugar cane that is distilled in a system of continuous columns, Marama Origins Indonesian rum has been flavoured with extracts of plants and fruits native to its local area – including vanilla and galangal root.
After ageing in American oak barrels, the spiced rum has a clear, dark, amber colour and aromas of spices and ginger, as well as notes of plums, raisins, dried fruits and galangal root.
On the palate, Marama Origins Indonesian rum has a slightly sweet flavour, which combines spices, citrus and ginger notes.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Marama Origins is priced at €28 to €32 (US$33-US$37) and is available worldwide.
Marama Origins is the latest rum to join Beveland Distillers’ portfolio, which includes Ron Jungla, Caracas Club and Ron Relicario. Last month, the Spanish company also unveiled a new gin produced by brandy maker Bodegas Suau.
