Bellamie Cherry Liqueur debuts in UK

English apéritif Bellamie, a cherry liqueur made with real fruits and natural ingredients, has launched in the UK on-trade.

Launched in October 2024, Bellamie is inspired by French apéritif culture and is now available in the UK for on-trade, bolstering a bold cherry and sweet spice flavour.

Meaning ‘beautiful friend’, Bellamie is a contemporary take on French ‘Guignolet’ liqueur, a traditional cherry spirit that originated in the 17th century in the Anjou region.

The liqueur is crafted with real fruits and natural ingredients in Kent and made without additional colouring or flavouring agents.

Produced through maceration, it uses the cherry tree’s blossoms, fruit and stones, and is made by blending the components with Cognac, sugar and roasted apricot stones.

Bellamie offers a ‘bold’ cherry flavour, which is said to set it apart from the citrus or bitter-led options on the market.

On the nose, it displays aromas of hawthorn berry, red apple, marmalade, nutmeg, cinnamon, plum, blackcurrant and cherry. The palate offers additional notes of redcurrant, blackberry, raspberry and marzipan.

Bellamie is bottled at 18% ABV and can be sipped over ice, in a Spritz, or in a cocktail such as a Sour Cherry Negroni.

Marie Voirin, founder of Bellamie, said, “I’ve always loved the apéritif occasion, and I really wanted to create a product which captures the essence of French conviviality and would bring people together.

“Bellamie offers something new to the UK trade. It is an aperitif made without colouring or flavouring agents, that has a bright, vibrant cherry flavour with a marzipan and baking spice finish, completely different from the citrus and bitter options currently out there. The perfume-like luxury packaging of Bellamie is also designed to make a statement and elevate any back bar.

Voirin concluded: “It’s best enjoyed alongside salty treats and great company—I can’t wait to hear what the UK trade thinks.”

Accounts interested in stocking Bellamie are encouraged to contact the brand directly on its website.

After the initial launch in the on-trade, the liqueur will be available to consumers through the brand’s website in 2025.

At the 2024 Liqueur and Speciality Masters, Bellamie was awarded with a Gold medal in the fruit liqueur round.
